The Introduction and Use of EDM
EDM is now the fourth most popular machining method, leading behind milling, turning and grinding.
Comparing with the traditional copper electrode,isostatic graphite materials for EDM application have the following advantages:
1．The price of isostatic graphite is around 25% compared with the same volume copper electrode.
2．The machining speed is 3-5 times faster than copper electrode. The machined surface is smooth.
3．Good Machining Precision and easy polishing.
4．The density of graphite is only 1/5 of copper. It’s more suitable in the production for larger electrodes.
5．Used as EDM electrode,which consumption is only 1/3-1/5 of copper electrode. The coating of spark decomposition of carbide compensates electrode is loss.
